WITHOUT SUN

lord envy in the starless

hereto come for shame

what starless but starless rigs

coming east

I feel I know you

haunted whitey—

less the creator and her creations

set in a painful pattern

to keep you alive—

dishonorable tonnage

shifting lanes in anger

to be lame beside you

inside you whoever you are

I THOUGHT I’D HAVE AN AUDIENCE

two trees and the one aching

two chairs facing west

two of us—

as I’d intended to

put my breath in a flower—

as it ends—light of day

by light of night

a fresh scent dismissed from the leaves

my leaves cooling

in a tonal slack—like an extension

chord

a tired libretto

in electorate fashion—

new scenery made

by what is missing

THE UNKNOWN LOVES US

a crowd disperses

and what I’d wanted

in a crown of subsidies

is said in subtitles

could’ve fed you

from the garden

that said nothing—

so thanks in advance

for the painting of your face

beneath your face.

crippled, “it was me

wrong all along”—

stressful sounds

bursting in the keyhole

the wound newly dressed

a fluid light warming all.
